The international event awarded the orange honey with saffron the maximum of three stars and one star for the orange honey with black truffle.

 

El Perelló (Tarragona), 16th Septembre 2019.-  ArtMuria’s variety of Orange honey with saffron (www.artmuria.com), produced using traditional methods in the Tarragonian village El Perelló, has obtained an outstanding three stars award, in the 2019 edition of the London Great Taste Awards, considered the Oscars of food. Obtaining this great award now places it in the ranking of the best products of the world “The Guild of Fine Food”.

This Luxury honey, elaborated at Baix Ebre, amongst wild Mediterranean flowers, by the beekeeper Rafael Muria and his company Muria Honey, outstands amongst 208 products with three stars, with more than 12.700 products presented, from more than 100 countries, in this year’s edition of the international tasting award, that have been awarded this month in London (Uk).

The contest has awarded 119 Spanish products (10 three star awards, 47 two star awards and 62 one star awards) the variety of artMuria’s Orange honey with saffron ranks as one of the ten best products from Spain and one of the best honeys in the world.

Some of the notes made by the jury, more than 500 judges tasted the honey said: “Delicately perfumed with orange flowers and a deep golden colour. The flavour of honey is delicate and allows the distinctive flavour of saffron to come through nicely.” or An attractive colour with a appealing set, visible flecks of saffron.  A sweet, floral honey with a strong saffron note”.

Also the jury labelled the honey as great for multitude of uses and to combine with some of the best high cuisine plates.

According to Rafel Muria, artMuria chef: “The orange honey with saffron isn’t just magnificent to taste in desserts with a unique touch, it is also a great flavour enhancer in vinaigrettes, the combination of the flavour of vinegar or lemon with honey brings sweet and acidy hints with a surprising final taste.

 One combination I use with this honey, is to finish sauces o light mayonnaise to go with fish, this gives us an ideal viscosity with a caramelized taste that preserves the authentic taste of the saffron.” – Also the named Honey chef has revealed one of his biggest secrets – “to finish off a rice dish with a couple of spoonfuls of orange honey with saffron raises the dish to another gastronomic level.”

The words of the jury were “A honey with beautiful clarity of colour and also of character:  a happy meld here of orange blossom honey as an ideal vehicle for well-balanced addition of truffle flavouror “there is a great balance of earthy truffle with the light bright fruity honey and the savoury / sweet affect was pleasantly intriguing”.

 Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer.
