The most awarded organic brand in the country has received 3 new ‘Silver Honeycombs’ and the highest score in the category of clear honeys of this edition, with 84 points for the Lavender variety

El Perelló (Tarragona), April 20, 2021.- Muria BIO, the brand of organic honeys of the company Miel Muria, has received the highest score in the III Hispanoluso Organic Honey Contest of  and places three of its honeys among the best of Spain.

The most awarded organic brand in our country has achieved three ‘Silver Honeycombs’, the highest recognition, in the prestigious international award.

The three varieties of organic honey Muria BIO awarded have been those of Orange, Rosemary and Lavender. The last has achieved the highest score of all the honeys awarded in the category of light honeys, with a total of 84 points.

The Hispanoluso Contest of Organic Honey, organized by the Green Office of the University of León and by the Urzapa Beekeepers Consultant, is the only one that evaluates professional honeys from the whole of the Iberian Peninsula. In this edition, ten light honeys from seven autonomous communities (Navarra, Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Castilla y León, Canary Islands and Catalonia), and many dark ones from six Autonomous Communities reached the final of this international competition, which was held at the end of March at the Veterinary Faculty of León, this time without an audience due to the pandemic.

The competing honeys have been selected from more than 40 samples received, of which 38 were admitted.

On this occasion, the jury has been made up of Rosa Valencia, Botany professor whom acted as president, Bernardo Prieto, Food Technology professor, Félix Adanero, beekeeping researcher and health inspector, Adolfo Benéitez, sommelier and president of ASLE and Rosa María Gutiérrez, chef at Entrepeñas with 70 years of tradition in the mountains of León.

The range of organic honeys Muria BIO is present in specialized stores and in the Horeca market. The company’s business policy maintains a faithful social and environmental commitment and carries out numerous actions to maintain biodiversity beyond the care of bees. It has recently launched the first line of organic honey candies with 100% compostable packaging in the world and has certified, with the help of PEFC Spain, the first honey from forests certified in Sustainable Forest Management in Europe and the first to export internatioanlly.

In the latest edition of the prestigious BIOLMIEL international award, which celebrated a few weeks ago, Muria BIO has also achieved 4 gold medals, 1 silver and 2 maximum certifications for the best honeys in its category for 5 of the varieties of its organic honeys.
