The 10th edition of the Italian Prize Biolmiel 2019 and the II Hispanic-Portuguese Contest of Ecological Honey has awarded several varieties of the Muria BIO ecological honeys.

Muria BIO ecological range achieves three new international Awards!

El Perelló (Tarragona), 6th February, 2020The range of organic honey Muria BIO (www.mielmuria.com) have been the protagonists in BIOLMIEL 2019 and in the II Hispanic Contest for Organic honey, with three different recognitions in international events.

The High Mountain Honey variety has been awarded a gold medal in the polyfloral category and the Rosemary honey has been awarded with a silver medal in the monofloral category, in the BIOLMIEL 2019 awards, which awards the best organic honey in the world, placing even higher the Muria brand internationally.

The 11th edition of the BIOLMIEL Awards was held in Belforte all’Isauro (Pesaro Urbino, Italy), and counted on the CREA association’s support (Center for Agricultural and Environmental Research, by Belforte all’Isauro Township and Pronubio (Italian association of organic and biodynamic beekeepers), as well as with the sponsorship of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture.

On this occasion, the number of participants increased, with 88 beekeepers and 223 samples of honey: 107 Italians, 78 Greek, 24 Spanish, 5 Slovenians, 3 Croatians and 2 from Portugal, Slovakia and Serbia. The prize, which consists of a final tasting, also analyzes the samples in terms of humidity, acidity and HMF (hydroxymethylfurfural).

The objective of this international initiative in the organic beekeeping sector, created in 2008 by the CIBI (Italian Biological Consortium) from the experience of the BIOL oil prize, is to disseminate the quality of organic honey, to support the management of biodiversity and production inspired by social responsibility criteria. The BIOLMIEL award also promotes the quality of honey from organic beekeeping and the dissemination of specific knowledge on the topic; strengthens the relationship between beekeeping and sustainable development; improves the differences related to natural biodiversity and crops; promotes the exchange and technical innovations among those concerned with the quality of beekeeping and sensitizes the consumer about the agri-food products of Mediterranean culture in general and in a particular way.

For the most part, Muria BIO’s Thyme Honey has been awarded a Silver honeycomb in the category of light coloured honey inn the II Hispanic Competition for Organic Honey, recently celebrated in the Espacio Vías at León.

The 2nd Hispanic-Portuguese Organic Honey contest, organized by the University of Leon and the Beekeeping Consultant Urzapa, is the only one that evaluates honeys from Iberian Peninsula. The present edition brought together 36 participants from Portugal and from eight Spanish autonomous communities represented by producers from Lugo, La Palma, Hierro, Tenerife, Toledo, La Rioja, Cantabria, Madrid, Segovia, Zamora, León, Girona and Tarragona, as in the case of Muria BIO.

The Muria BIO Organic Honey Collection consists of natural pollen and 11 varieties of honey: High Mountain, Chestnut, Forest, Flowers, Eucalyptus, Heather, Thyme, Lavender, Orange, Acacia and Rosemary. The range is complemented by a collection of syrups and food supplements / Range of propolis syrups and food supplements and a collection of 12 varieties of Flavoured Honeys.
